Halloween sewing

Hi everyone and welcome back

I am still deep in Halloween sewing....and I can't seem to stop. I absolutely love orange/black/green combo and it's so nice to enjoy it all once a year.

These are my last makes I've managed to finish. I love them all but my absolute favourite is my little pumpkin mug rug.

All the orange fabric I could find in my stash.....

1) Pumpking Mug Rug

For this little mug rug I used scraps from my last year's Halloween stash. This is Riley Blake glow-in-the-dark fabric collection called Ghouls & Goodies. For the pumpkin design I followed Lori Holt's pumpkin block tutorial from her Farm Girl Vintage book. The block is 12in and after adding some white borders the whole mug rug measures about 14.5in square.

2) Pumpkin Cushion

My lovely pumpkin cushion was design for two little boys who wanted to decorate their bedroom for Halloween. The actual design is same as Lori Holt's pumpkin block but as I wanted the cushion to be about 20in, I had to enlarge it. The basic patchwork squares were cut at 3in.

As an extra feature I added black eyes, nose and mouth, which were appliqued on. I think the effect is stunning and hopefully the boys will be delighted.

3) Pumpkin Table Runner

For my table runner I followed simple but excellent tutorial by Amy Smart (Dairy of a Quilter). It was very straightforward only took couple of hours to piece it together.

Piecing my blocks togehter..... five pumpkin blocks with added dark grey background.

I quilted the pumpkin blocks with simple Back and Forth quilting design and the dark background with swirls.

The table runner measures 15.5in x 60in and it fits perfectly on our dining table.

I enjoyed making my Halloween makes....and sadly I have no more orange/black fabric left. Hence, that's it for this year and now onto my Christmas sewing.

Thanks for reading....back soon.
