"Orange World" Quilt & Cushion

Hello to you all and happy Wednesday!!

For the past couple of weeks I have been on/off working on this orange quilt/cushion combo. It all started very well and after lots of cutting and designing I pieced the top in about 24 hours so not bad at all.

And then I got suck and carried on with my other bits and bobs.

It wasn't until last week that I picked it up again and had an urge to finish it off.

So let's start from the beginning....

The fabric is from John Lewis Great British Sewing Bee fabric line. As soon as I spotted it, I had to have it...no, not for me but for my 6 year old daughter who absolutely loves orange. If she could live in an orange world, she would. Hence "Orange World" quilt is dedicated to her and her orange craziness.

The pattern is super easy drunkard's path pattern in variety of white/orange/purple colours all mixed up. I used 12 fat quarters, 1 charm pack (for the borders) and 2.5in sashing in white cotton.

Quilting was my real concern as I really didn't want to mess it up. So after debating with myself, I decided on straight line quilting. Yes, there is a little bit of free-motion quilting on my white sashing and that is just to make it more interesting.

I finished the quilt with bright orange bias binding and ta-dahhhh.....

The quilt is 56in square.

The co-ordinated cushion is made the same way with leftover fabric. It measures 26x16in.

I am very pleased with the final result and my daughter couldn't be happier.

I am totally done with orange...time for different colour now.

Back soon.

xx
